David Apostol is a photographer based in Melbourne, Australia. David started his photographic journey as a freelance sports photographer in 2008 which saw him photographing motorsports events for local and national publications. In 2013 David gave up the freelance work and turned his attention to fine art and, after being inspired by the work of Francesca Woodman, embarked on a series of self portraits entitled “Enanatiodromia” which tackled his own struggle with depression and anxiety. Following this series, David wanted to broaden his portfolio, so with that in mind he began to experiment with different genres and techniques. It was during this time that David also transitioned from using digital photography to an analog based practice.
For David, inspiration comes from an innate curiosity about the world and human nature. The images created as a result of this inquisitiveness express a desire to create a conduit between his self and the viewer. Whatever the subject may be, every piece created is a reflection on how he sees the world.
